Lothians based Tim Wright’s Scottish Dance Band enjoyed great popularity in the immediate post war years. They recorded extensively for the Beltona label in the late 1940s and in the 50s moved on to HMV. The recordings on this CD were made for Beltona in April 1948. The line up was likely to have been a six-piece led by 2 fiddles and with probably a muted saxophone - helping to produce a distinctive and quite different sound from other dance bands. A different sound perhaps, but a sound of the era for sure - is as is the selection of traditional airs chosen to make up the repertoire. 1.
