colliers and jeopardising the existence of many valley towns and coal pits.

This programme examines the years from the start of World War
I to the 1980s and the aftermath of 'the bitter end'. War, strikes, depression
and political and environmental wrangling would ultimately see a once thriving, vital industry and the proud men who worked
in it decimated, and many a town and village fall by the wayside.

Featuring extensive interviews with current and ex-miners, period imagery and archive footage, this
programme delves into the often humorous but always proud history of Welsh mining.
