                                                                                        In order to have a good session it is important to have a common repertoire of tunes and this is forever changing as musicians
                                                                                        introduce new tunes to each other that they have learnt from many sources such as other musicians, music courses, fiddler
                                                                                        teachers, Cds and travel in other countries. The material is very varied and often the tunes come not just from Scotland but
                                                                                        from Ireland, Cape Breton, Scandinavia, and even Eastern Europe. As the tunes are passed on they often evolve like chinese
                                                                                        whispers and the versions become slightly different and more influenced by Scottish music. For example there are many Scottish
                                                                                        versions of Irish tunes. In this book we have a representative collection of the best tunes played in sessions in Scotland
                                                                                        today. A collection of over 160 tunes many of which will be familiar from the playing of touring bands such as Blazin' Fiddles,
