Classic scenes from the celebrated BBC Television series...
In the late 1950s and early 1960s, the BBC broadcast a series of television programmes called âRailway Roundaboutâ, featuring train lines which proved to be on the point of closure and locomotives that were about to disappear forever.
This archive film footage has been transformed by Ian Allan and is now available as nine separate Railway Roundabout DVDs, all superbly recreating the lost age of steam!
With additional footage from the original series, âRailway Roundabout - The End of the line' presents a selection of highlights to delight existing and new steam enthusiasts. Featured in this programme, produced from original film supplied by N ational R ailway M useum , is a host of fascinating archive material from the early 1960s. Amongst the highlights is a visit to Newton Heath Shed, the Marylebone exhibition, historic locomotives at Crewe, the last slip coach to Bicester, two âGlensâ to Fort William and, to reflect the changing railway scene, a trip from Newcastle to Carlisle with a diesel multiple-unit.
