In the late 1950s and early 1960s, the BBC
broadcast a series of television programmes called âRailway Roundaboutâ,
featuring train lines which proved to be on the point of closure and locomotives that were about to disappear forever.

This archive film footage has been transformed by Ian Allan
and is now available as nine separate Railway Roundabout DVDs,
all superbly recreating the lost age of steam!

, is a host of fascinating archive material from the early 1960s. Amongst the highlights
is a visit to Newton Heath Shed, the Marylebone
exhibition, historic locomotives at Crewe, the last slip coach to Bicester,
two âGlensâ to Fort William and, to reflect the
changing railway scene, a trip from Newcastle to Carlisle with a diesel
